Can you imagine anything more precious than a child being entertained with a simple cooking pot? Well my granddaughter EV just thought this was the best.
With a pot you can put in pretend food, using dirt, sand, grass clippings, sticks, weeds, flowers and just about anything and make a wonderful pretend dinner for everyone.
You can use the pot with water in it to create a bath for your baby dolly or to float ducks and boats in.
You can stick you feet in this sized pot to cool down with and wiggle your toes and watch the water squish through. Seeing your toes through the water gives the nail polish on them a whole new look.
Now what can a two year old accomplish with some collected sticks and a plastic cup on a sand beach? Why you can make a wonderful village of sand castle houses with stick chimneys.
Now let us think about what else fascinates a two year old?! Why it is chasing or feeding birds and animals. They love nature. I remember when EV's mother was her age and we took her to Paris to see the Eiffel tower. What fascinated her the most were the pigeons on the ground. They moved when chased or came to you when fed. This was far more interesting to a two year old than some old steel structure standing up and doing nothing to entertain her.
Now goats appear to fascinate my granddaughter to no end. She has kissed one in Riverdale Farm and talked to one in New York. It does not appear to matter much to EV their nationality just that they pay attention to her!
If you have bubbles you have the attention of almost any two year old. They can be manipulated into different shapes. Depending on the light you might just see the colours of the rainbow in them. You can catch them on your skin without holding on or blow them into the air and watch them float. While your distracted with your lovely bubbles your parent's can get away with styling your hair into silly hairstyles but you do not care as long as you have your bubbles.
Okay if you have a sweet tooth one of the best inventions ever is the cupcake. It is a cake a two year old can hold and savour without making too much mess. You can lick it, bite it, chomp down on it and say yum. It is sized just right for your little hands. What a delight!
There is nothing better than seeing the world through the eyes of a two year old.....It is the best...
